POSITION TITLE: Quality Manager/Production Engineer
HOURS / WEEK: 40
RATE OF PAY: $93,538 / year
JOB SITE LOCATION: 2336 E High Street, Jackson, MI 49203
DUTIES:
- Oversee manufacturing processes and controls to ensure high quality parts are processed to align with product specific requirements of domestic and International customer.
- Work with cross functional team and apply process engineering concepts like overall equipment efficiency to make necessary improvement to the process to increase efficiency.
- Design and implement process layout of production process, performing technical analysis of tool design, implementing verification steps to analyze output generated process qualification reports.
- Assist in implementing documentation and process control plans for new and existing manufacturing programs.
- Set up ISO and TS Quality System for in-house ISO 9001-2015.
- Perform inspection/audit of ongoing production including gauging and CMM layout reports.
- Address domestic and foreign customer quality alerts and implementation of Corrective Action procedure.
- Drive DFM (Design for Manufacturability) initiatives to enhance production efficiency and consistency, while enforcing customer quality standards through technical design reviews, tool design validation, product specification analysis, and execution of design of experiments for Thixomolding Manufacturing process.
- Develop and submit all quality control documentation required by customers: PPAP submissions, Control Plans, PFMEA documents, Six Sigma, the interpretation of blueprints and their corresponding GD&T all required for design changes on existing and new programs.
- Develop the inspection methods for ensuring that the product meets the customer’s demands.
- Perform capability studies to assist the process engineering team in determining the method of manufacture.
- Responsible for internal auditing.
- Implement 8D methodology in order to perform root cause analysis for defect resolution and to perform measurement system analysis of data collection(including CMM programming) in order to reduce variation and improve the body of data collected.
- Develop and implement 5S procedures in the MMP workplace (Sort, Set inOrder, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material science or related degree field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) years of experience in position offered or a related occupation in the field of Engineering
- Experience with thixotropic magnesium injection molding process (Thixomolding)
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM), specifically with Mold/Tool development
- Experience with implementing Quality Management Systems for ISO 9001:2015 standard
- Experience with quality engineering tools (APQP, PPAP)
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE)
- Experience with Six-sigma tools and product development
- Experience with failure mode analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis for problem solving
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming & operation
- Experience with CAD (Computer Aided Design)
- Experience with Project Management
